The day of your appointment, you will drive over to the hidden gem of Summerland, a quaint beach town with beautifully curated shops, delicious restaurant options, and easy paths right to the beach. As you drive through our main street, Lillie Ave. you will pull up to our beautiful space, SUMMERLAND SALON AND SPA, a sweet ocean-side escape. There is plenty of complimentary parking in our lot or along the street.

In order for Kara to make your hair look its best, we need to make sure we have enough time booked for everything you need! Below you’ll find full descriptions of her signature hair color offerings. Consultations are also available and can be booked by calling the salon at 805-969-2322.
SIGNATURE BALAYAGE
Kara’s signature “Santa Barbara Balayage” technique is all completely hand painted highlights. This can go from very soft, sun kissed color, or warmer brighter highlights. This does not give you maximum brightness, so if you’re looking for a more dramatic change you will want to have Kara’s BLONDING technique (read below for more details on that.)

HIGHLIGHTS
This technique of highlight is a more traditional style and uses foils to separate the hair and create more brightness than you can get from hand painted highlights. This is perfect for you if you like your highlights very tightly woven and close to the roots. Kara is known for her seamless looks and can still create this look in a way that will grow out beautifully. Since the highlights are brighter and closer to the root you will have to get these touched up more often that you would Balayage.
*Note: Kara’s style is more natural and dimensional so she does not do close back to back foils. If you are looking for a more platinum look this is not what Kara specializes in and can give you suggestions of other colorists that can give you the look you’re going for.

COLOR CORRECTIONS
Kara is known for her color correcting transformations. These appointments are created to build an even foundation on your hair color so you can work towards the hair of your dreams. This isn’t always accomplished in the first appointment, and a series of appointments may be required to get your hair to looking its absolute best. Consultations are required for an estimated quote, but we will not know the exact timing or pricing because there are many unknowns when it comes to color correcting. MORE HAIR CARE & COLOR OFFERINGS…
BASE COLOR
Whether you’re covering gray or lightening/enhancing your natural color, this service is usually booked every 2-6 weeks to touch up the regrowth area. No other services are included and should be booked separately or in the grouped services listed.
BASE COLOR ONLY: Starting at $100
BASE COLOR & BLOW OUT: Starting at $185
BASE COLOR & HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS: Starting at $175
BASE BUMP
This appointment is only for Kara’s current clients for maintaining a slightly lighter base color. A base bump shifts the natural color about half a shade lighter and is slightly warmer. Its used to help blend highlights and should be booked every 4-6 weeks. Blow Out is not included and should be booked separately.
BASE BUMP ONLY: Starting at $80
TONER OR GLOSS TREATMENT
Refresh the life of your hair color with a toner or gloss. This is a common service if you have highlights that you want to tone unwanted colors (like yellow or brassy tones) or enhance the color you have (like warming it up), or just a clear gloss to create more shine! Blow Out is not included and should be booked separately. ***Toners are always included with any highlight, balayage or Blonding appointment, but are not included with any other services.
TONER/GLOSS: Starting at $75
HAIRCUTS:
Although natural hair color is her true passion and speciality, Kara also loves creating haircuts to compliment her color looks. Her signature haircuts are longer layered, soft, “beachy” looks and other “wash & go” looks that Santa Barbara women love! If you’re looking for short pixie looks, or geometrical, edgy styles she can refer you to someone who specializes in those looks. Haircut starting prices are listed and pricing goes up depending on the density of hair which takes more time.
HAIRCUT WITH BLOW OUT: Starting at $150
HAIRCUT (NO BLOW OUT): Starting at $135
HERBAL HAIR BATHS:
Take your hair care to a more holistic approach with Kara’s hair bath of herbal blends. Your tea is brewed and infused the day before your appointment for you to receive the most benefits from these incredible herbs blended by Kara. Lay back and relax as Kara sends you into bliss with her Reiki (Japanese relaxation technique) inspired head massage to stimulate the scalp and promote blood circulation. Blow out not included and should be booked separately.
